Val d’Orcia, Tuscany, Italy

Pienza and Val d’Orcia…… wow, what a day trip! If you have ever looked at a Tuscany calendar, chances are quite a few of the photos in it were taken in Val d’Orcia. It is breathtakingly picturesque – I think we stopped every 10 feet to take in the view and snap a photo. We first drove to Pienza which is one of the towns located in this beautiful sprawling valley. We had a stroll around, taking in the beautiful piazza and cute streets. We could see the insanely gorgeous views below from the walls of Pienza and that the light was creeping close to magic hour so we quickly left and set out to explore the side roads and rolling hills.

As the sun slid lower in the sky, it’s warm light spread over the hills in long shadows, bringing out their contours and peaks. I felt like I was in one of those movies where there is a treasure map involved and you need the sun to be at a certain position in the sky to shine through a talisman to reveal the location of buried treasure, but instead, the talisman was my lens and the treasure was everywhere you looked. Wherever the light touched the soft multi-coloured wheat, was a jewel in itself. My Dad and I kept switching between excitedly gushing and being in silent awe. I took it all in like a beautiful dream. Never before have I seen light play like that, and on such beautiful vistas. If you’re ever lucky enough to find yourself in this amazing place, I suggest you wait until sunset to see it in its full glory.

We really only saw the tip of the iceberg- there is SO much more to explore in that valley and next time I’m in Tuscany, I definitely plan to linger longer in Val d’Orcia.

Kelly & Todd – Spirit Ridge Vineyard Resort Wedding

What a gorgeous day for a wedding at Spirit Ridge Winery in Osoyoos! It was hot and sunny, and good vibes were in the air all around. I had a perma-smile the whole day at Kelly and Todd’s wedding. These two are so unconditionally and truly in love, not to mention totally loveable!!

While photographing the girls getting ready, someone was heading out the door to go see the groom and Kelly yelled after them, “Tell Todd I love him!” And during their ceremony, they stopped 4 or 5 times just to hug each other. Your heart just kind swells watching these two and you can’t help but be filled with happiness for them.

I barely gave them any direction in front of the camera – all I had to do is turn it on them and they’d already be in their own world being adorable and all I had to do was click. Their wedding party was so cooperative and nice, they made photographing them a piece of cake! We made a fun stop at the little amusement park near Spirit Ridge to get some photos of the wedding party on the Tornado ride. I was happy that they were totally into doing that!

I know Kelly and Todd have many many happy years ahead. If you want to see more, check out Kelly and Todd’s engagement session.

Ellisa & Prokopi – Sunset Ranch Wedding

I officially love Greek weddings after photographing Ellisa and Prokopi’s big day. It was the first Greek wedding I’ve ever attended and it was so fun… especially the Greek dancing! I had to stop myself from putting my camera down and joining in, despite it being so fun to photograph as well! Greeks are famous for smashing plates for good luck at weddings and although it was asked of everyone not to do so for this one, I still heard what I’m sure was an “accidental” smash here and there. haha.

Ellisa’s parents actually own Sunset Ranch, where the ceremony and reception took place, and we got to take photos on their beautiful farm nearby. I loved the styling for this wedding! Ellisa, Prokopi and whole wedding party all looked fantastic (especially liked the Anthropologie bridesmaids dresses). I loved the DIY decor job done by Ellisa and her maid of honour, Jill, as well. The colour combination was so cool and unique and everything looked so festive and colourful. I was so impressed they did it all themselves, right down to the florals and stationary design! You could tell a lot of love and thought went into the event.

Congrats again Ellisa and Prokopi!
