I thought it would be fun to starting posting couples stories of how they met in their own words. Jenna and Roger are such a fun, happy couple who are so in tune with each other! It’s always so fun photographing a couple so in love. I loved Jenna’s story of how they met and their engagement with the comedic twist! : D I’m really looking forward to photographing their wedding next year in 2011 in Vernon!
“Rog and I met at the University of Alberta where we lived on the same floor in our first year of university. Roger was known for his carefree, island boy attitude and had the most incredible sense of humor. Even though inter-floor relationships were frowned upon, I worked up the courage to ask him out on a date. Thankfully, he said yes! Despite a terrible first date, where I wore my shirt inside out and backwards and ate only crackers at Moxie’s due to a terribly unsettled stomach, he must have liked what he saw as we continued to date from March until May. Unfortunately when it was time to go home for the summer, Rog didn’t know if he would be back to Edmonton. We decided to break up since our future was so up in the air, and had only been dating a short 2 months. After a tearful goodbye, I went home to Calgary, and Rog went back to Victoria. While we were “broken up” we would chat for hours and hours a day, and realized distance should and could not keep us apart, and so began our long distance relationship. Long distance was incredibly tough, but continued to make our relationship rock solid. If we could get through that, we could get through anything! We have now been living together for more than 2 years and long distance is a thing of our past. This past boxing day, after dating for nearly 6 years, Roger popped the question using his Grandmother’s gorgeous engagement ring and I have never been so sure of anything! His proposal was perfectly “us”. I slipped hard on some ice, and Rog tried to keep me up but ended up squeezing my fingers HARD! In smooth, Roger style, he helped me up and said, “I have something that will make your finger feel much better”. I am positive he went to the park earlier and planted the ice… Haha. What began as “floorcest” – the word given to relationships between people living on the same floor, ended in the most important and fulfilling relationship of my life. He fills my life with laughter, and has helped me through more than my fair share of issues. I could not ask for a better partner in crime and am grateful that Roger is all mine! ” ~ Jenna
