Covert Farms Wedding, Oliver, BC – Jessica & Derek

When I arrived in the morning to take getting ready photos of Jessica, my jaw dropped. Her floral wreath by Stage Right Etc and her Morilee wedding gown were exquisite compliments to her natural beauty. The day was off to a very smoky start due to local wildfires but, Jessica and Derek were positive and making the most of it. They’re such a down-to-earth pair and I love their sense of humour. Their love for each other is so evident and I enjoyed capturing their connection so much!

This was my first time photographing a wedding at Covert Farms Family Estate in Oliver, BC and I.am.in.LOVE!!! Every inch of this 650-acre property is stunning. Weaving between countless rows of beautiful grapevines down rustic dirt roads, you’re led to the secluded ceremony site in the middle of the expansive property. It was a magical start to wedding festivities and made quite the first impression. Not only that but the bride got to make her entrance in the back of a gorgeous vintage red truck for ceremony annnnd it was transport/prop for portraits around the property!

After a rainy and windy ceremony – which Jessica and Derek didn’t let stop them from enjoying their vows – it was soon evident that the short weather burst had been a blessing as the heavy smoke from the ceremony rapidly started to clear! Their own little wedding day miracle for being such great sports with the smoke. By the time we finished portraits and got to cocktail hour, the sun was shining and the air was clear.

The outdoor pavilion where the reception was held is set against beautiful winery and mountain backdrops with plenty of lawn games nearby for guests to enjoy. They put so much thought into having things to entertain little ones too. Stage Right Etc did such a fantastic job with the planning and decor and Brodo served up an insanely delicious dinner for everyone (hello job perk!). I loved the cake design by Sugar Sweet Cake Company as well. We were lucky to enjoy a musical performance by Austin Ellis for first dance and I was happy that I was able to use natural light to capture all of the ambiance, despite the sun going down a little earlier in August. : )

Such a memorable day. I can’t wait to photograph another wedding at Covert Farms Family Estate
