Caldwell Heritage Farms Potting Shed – Vintage Origami

While I was at Caldwell Heritage Farm to photograph Aman Dosanj’s pop-up dinner, I was also asked to photograph the amazing transformation of their potting shed into a bridal suite  by Vintage Origami. I just had to share this unbelievably charming space with you all. Insert dreamy sigh. After I was finished photographing it, I sat in the space for a little while, in front of the typewriter, imagining it was my office. I may have to try and recreate this in my backyard someday. hehe.

I wish I had a before photo to share – the transformation was amazing! It had been a storage shed before and Vintage Origami lovingly took the vision of Kristi (the owner) and redesigned it into the most wonderful bridal suite for Caldwell Heritage Farm’s wedding clients. I love the sentimentality of it as well. Yuriko used many heirlooms from Kristi’s family for the space, including watering cans collected by Kristi’s mother, decorative birds from the family birdbath in the yard, baking tins from the barn and baskets from Kristi’s childhood bedroom. Each piece carries a special memory that feels lovingly cradled by this room.

Caldwell Heritage Farm’s future brides are soooo lucky to be able to enjoy this special space on their wedding day.

Caldwell Heritage Farm Pop-Up Dinner, Kelowna, BC

I had the pleasure of photographing one of Aman Dosanj’s “Sourced” pop-up dinner series this summer at Caldwell Heritage Farm in Kelowna.

I’d been itching to photograph a wedding or event at Caldwell Heritage Farm and it was so fun to work with all of the great vendors involved. Table styling was done by Jenny McAlpine and Day by Knight Events with rentals provided by Avalon Event Rentals, floral arrangements by Tangerine Orchid and the graphic design talents of Write Away Designs for the stationery. Harry Dosanj (Bar Traveling Man Cocktails) created the most delicious cocktails and fantastic bar service to accompany Aman Dosanj’s delicious eats.

I can’t wait to photograph a wedding at Caldwell Heritage Farm, what an amazing venue!

Antico Pizza Napoletana – Italian wood-fired pizza, Kelowna, BC

Antico Pizza Napoletana in Kelowna, BC is the first Canadian restaurant to match or exceed the pizza I’ve had in Italy. After 9 months spent in Italy, I don’t say that lightly! I’m so happy I can experience this fluffy, wood-fired crust cooked with high-quality Italian flour in Kelowna, BC. I’m also a big tomato sauce snob and Antico’s nailed it!

Owners, Tony and Miranda, moved their business from Winnipeg to Kelowna a few years ago to their primo location on Bernard Avenue and word of mouth caught on fast. Tony is half Italian, half Greek and learned the centuries-old art of making Italian wood-fired pizza in Naples, Italy, the pizza capital of the world. Tony’s Greek side shows itself in the amazing Greek salad, hummus with wood-fired pita and the delicious olive oil that they get from his uncle’s olive oil farm in Greece. If I feel like Italian food, I go to Antico’s for pizza and if I feel like Greek food, I go there for the Greek salad and hummus. It’s a win win! With gluten-free crust and vegan cheese options, there is something for everyone. And don’t even get me started on Miranda’s homemade cheesecake. Everyone I introduce it to goes bonkers for it.

So much care goes into each pizza, from the selection of the high-quality ingredients, to the artful hand movements that shape the 3-day rise dough, to the precise method of cooking with a wood-fired oven. Not only does cooking with a wood fire oven boost flavour, it also helps food retain nutrients and anti-oxidants with it’s quick cook-time and even heat distribution.

It was such a pleasure photographing this edible art form. Check out Antico Pizza Napoletana at 347 Bernard Ave, downtown, Kelowna.
