Mary and Patrick had a winter wonderland for their wedding at Bottega in Kelowna! Earlier in the week, I had gone for a hike in just a t-shirt and capris and then 5 days later it was wintery white everywhere! Quite the switch! The snow made a beautiful backdrop for photos. Several of Patrick and Mary’s relatives wore gorgeous kimonos to the wedding that provided happy pops of colour, as well.
There were so many fun and unexpected moments throughout the day! After the ceremony we took shots with the wedding party around Bottega and the trees, laden with snow, kept spontaneously dropping huge clumps from their branches. I saw one above me start to sprinkle snow in an impending downfall and I turned to run and full out slipped. I could practically hear “KERRRSPLAAAT!” in my head. Haha. My camera and I were thankfully unscathed. ; ) From there, we went with Mary and Patrick to McMillain Farms where we had the fun surprise of getting to go on a hay ride to where we wanted to take photos! Score! The horses started chasing after us (probably smelled the hay we were sitting on) and then ran ahead into the field below to graze. It was a neat moment to be among all those running horses. After McMillain Farms, we needed to warm up from the cold so Mary and Patrick suggested we go for a hot chocolate break. I think back at how casual we were at the coffee shop with Mary and Patrick in their full wedding attire and I wonder what the other patrons thought. haha. On our way back to Bottega we pulled over at a beautiful orchard that still had yellow autumn leaves on the branches with a light blanket of snow over top. The sun was now low in the sky and it streamed in behind the golden leaves, lighting them up like lanterns.
Mary and Patrick are such a thoughtful and sweet couple. They really light up a room! It was such a wonderful day. : )

Below left shot by my second shooter, Carley Bortolin. The snow-covered trees kept randomly dowsing us with snow…. … the groomsmen got pretty into these “snow dumps” and decided to initiate one themselves by kicking a tree. haha.Photo below by my second shooter, Carley.
