I don’t know if the gumboots Robin and Brad wore on their engagement session was foreshadowing or not, but rain it did on their big day! Thunderstorms in fact. But you know what, when I arrived at Bottega to take Robin’s getting ready photos, she didn’t seem phased at all by the rain. In fact, she actually thought it was kind of cool! Ummmm… cool bride alert! I couldn’t agree more – rain and sunshine both have their perks. Rain means you’re not in sweltering Okanagan heat as well as great photo lighting and atmosphere. Plus I have some cool umbrellas that I think look awesome in photos. ; D So brides – if it rains on your wedding day, have no fear! Embrace it. : )
Luckily we had already planned to do their first look in a covered stairwell. I did a little rearranging of locations to accommodate the weather when it started to downpour during portraits and, combined with the great attitudes of Robin, Brad and their wedding party, we still got awesome shots. We weren’t about to let a little rain dampen the day… apart from the literal sense of the word. ; ) Also adding to the fun of the day were Desy and Kyle from RF Productions in Vancouver. I worked alongside them at a wedding last year and it was really great to work with these guys again! They have talent coming out the ying-yang. The always awesome Flyin’ Hawaiian (DJ Krucial K), really added the upbeat atmosphere of the day once we got back to Bottega for the ceremony and reception. I LOVE the Flyin’ Hawaiian‘s taste in music. So great. He really knows how to set a great vibe and read what the crowd is wanting.
Bottega is a new venue in Kelowna and this was my first time photographing a wedding there. I absolutely loved it!! Beautiful design and layout! Their indoor and outdoor ceremony spots are both beautiful which is such a bonus!
Robin and Brad are so sweet and cute together. They are both hilarious, full of smiles and also have kind and generous hearts. I had such a fantastic time capturing their big day! In fact, can we do it all over again?

Robin had the great idea of taking a photo of her and Brad on a sofa in an intersection. It was so fun doing this shot! It was Small Shop Saturday so there were lots of people downtown and quite a crowd gathered around to watch. They all cheered when we completed our endeavor. haha.
