Caroline and James came from Vancouver to have their wedding at the beautiful Summerhill Estate Winery in Kelowna. But their story started much further away than that! Caroline and James met at university in New Zealand, where Caroline was studying abroad. Since then, James has moved to Canada and many of his friends and family traveled the long distance to come see these two get married. I have to say, New Zealanders, AKA Kiwis, are hilarious. I love their dry sense of humour. I was crying with laughter on more than one occasion on their wedding day – especially at the video made for them back in New Zealand. Friends and family, who couldn’t attend, took their turns sending their love and congratulations to the couple (and doing some funny imitations of James’ loveable quirks).

Caroline and James are one of the nicest couples I’ve ever met – they have huge hearts and really make the most of life. I instantly clicked with them. Their wedding party was hilarious and full of energy. One of them had such an awesome idea for a series of photos called “The Wave” – see below for that. Too funny! The weather was a perfect mix of sun and cloud and the day couldn’t have gone any better!

Stage Right Etc decorated the reception area at Summerhill with luxurious draping and beautiful yellow accents to make the place truly gorgeous (yet again). There was a fun candy bar with a mix of Canadian candy and Zew Zealand candy like Jaffas and Pineapple Lumps that not only looked cool, but was fun to choose (and eat of course)! The laid-back lounge layout and appetizer dinner style had everyone mingling and having a great time from the get go. I loved the casual elegance of it all.

Jenna and Roger came from Calgary to get married in the beautiful “sunny” Okanagan. The Okanagan’s track record of dry heat didn’t hold out for the two but they were sure lucky on the the timing of each downpour! The first downpour happened while everyone was indoors getting ready and it ended before their ceremony at Coldstream Centennial Park. The next downpour was during wedding portraits but we just escaped to our cars for 20 minutes until it passed and then beautiful sunshine followed. The third and last rainfall started just as the wedding party made their entrance into the reception at Paddelwheel Park Hall in Vernon. Pretty lucky if you ask me! Jenna and Roger have great, positive attitudes though and they didn’t let the rain dampen their enjoyment of their wedding day in the least.

Coldstream Centennial Park was such a gorgeous ceremony location- I absolutely loved it! So picturesque! It’s a bit of an unknown gem I think. Jenna’s family lives in Vernon, and Roger actually proposed to Jenna at Coldstream Centennial Park (it’s also where we did their engagement session). So, as you can imagine, it holds a lot of sentiment for the two of them. : ) Jenna had found an absolutely awesome red barn for us to take photos at as well. I fell head over heels for the place and could have taken photos there for hours – especially with the great group of people in Jenna and Roger’s wedding party!  So happy for these two – they are such a wonderful match. It’s obvious they adore each other. Congrats to Roger as well for completing his fireman training and joining the Calgary Fire Department!
