Kelowna Family Session

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

Ashley contacted me about doing a photo session for her family to celebrate her mom’s Birthday! Ashley and I graduated together back in 2003 and it was fun to see her again. She also got married this past summer in Vancouver to Richard who also joined them for the session as the newest addition to their family. We had beautiful weather the day of their shoot at Bertram Park in Kelowna. Little did Ashley’s mom know that her family had also planned a surprise birthday party for her later that day! I immediately clicked with the whole family and they all felt like old friends! We had a great time (I have such fun clients!) and their session flew by.

I hear the surprise party was a great success as well and Pat had no idea they had planned anything! Thanks again guys!

Jessica & Owen – Engagement Session

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

Jessica and Owen came down from Grande Prairie for the weekend recently and we got the chance to do their engagement session! We had a funny start to our session as I planned to shoot at a spot that was much muddier than the last time I had shot at it! I lost my shoes within 2 minutes! They got lodged in the mud and I knew there was no point putting them back on so I was running around in my socks snapping photos for a few minutes while Jess and Owen laughed at me (it was pretty funny! hehe). After a few minutes, my feet were totally numb and I was like, “I think we need to change locations guys!” Which is so funny because the only other time this has happened where I’ve spontaneously had to change spots was at this exact same location when it started pouring rain midway through the shoot! haha.

Luckily Jessica and Owen were game for anything and we were soon back in the car and going to another great spot nearby that I had been itching to shoot at! I think we were laughing the whole shoot- we were having that much fun. Love it when that happens. Jessica and Owen cracked me up when I suggested doing a piggy back shot and Owen jumped onto Jessica’s back rather than the other way around. : D

Jessica and Owen are getting married in August at Summerhill Winery and Stage Right Etc is doing their decor. Can’t wait!

Alison & Ryan – Kamloops Wedding Photography

Sunday, April 10th, 2011

It was so fun to finally jump into my local 2011 wedding season and Alison and Ryan’s wedding in Kamloops was such a fantastic one to start with. Alison is so thoughtful – she was always asking in her emails if I had all the info I needed and if there was anything she could do for me- how sweet is that! What is the word for the opposite of a bridezilla? haha. Ryan was so great and laid back as well and just let me do my thing the day of! I swear I am so lucky with all the wonderful clients I get! They all rock!

Alison actually went to school for photography (I’ve seen some of her stuff and it’s great) so it was really fun to work with a bride who already had a photographer’s eye. She was my eyes for spots to shoot in Kamloops and she chose a gorrrrgeous old heritage building to shoot at. I can’t tell you enough how much I loved shooting at this place. The light was so beautiful and there were so many unique spots to shoot at inside and outside of it. Jessica Balfour came and second shot for me for the day (thanks Jess!) and she was as in love with the place as I was! : ) Check out her post from the day on her blog!

Alison and Ryan had their ceremony and reception at Thompson River University in Kamloops. They had around 220 guests and the venue perfectly accommodated the larger crowd. Alison did all the decor along with her mom and sister! The room had such a nice country chic feel to it. They personalized each table with different flowers that had a wonderful wildflower look to it all, along with doilies (I hear there was a lot of doily searching that took place!) as well as neat wooden crates, picture frame table numbers and antique furniture pieces (many of which were Alison’s grandparent’s) amongst everything. Alison and her mom also had many cakes made to accommodate all of the guests and made a variety of gorgeous cake plates out of vintage plates and overturned porcelain goblets for the plate stems. To top it all off, they had homemade jelly as wedding favours in a few different flavours. I got “Red Pepper Jelly” and it was so yummy! Much of work and love went into this wedding and you could tell!

Thank you again for letting me be a part of your big day Alison and Ryan!

Looooved these windows!

More gorgeous windows!

I was so impressed with the DIY decor that Alison did for her wedding with the help of her mom and sister!

How awesome is this fun, vintage photo booth Alison put together!?
