Kelowna Boudoir Photographer ~ Bri

Sunday, October 17th, 2010

Bri hired me to do a boudoir session as a surprise wedding gift for her soon-to-be-husband. The day of her shoot, she drove down to Kelowna from Kamloops and Melissa Craven did a beautiful job as always with Bri’s makeup. The time it takes to do makeup is always nice before a shoot because it gives us a chance to chat and loosen up nervous energy that a woman usually feels before a boudoir session. : ) Bri was a natural and had a beautiful glow and inner smile about her. We got some fantastic shots and she was nice enough to let me share a few below! Thanks again Bri!

Check out the fun post wedding shoot I did with Bri and her husband!

Avatar Inspired Wedding – Alva & Ashley – Kelowna, BC

Friday, October 15th, 2010

Alva and Ashley did everything about their wedding to their own tune and that’s a part of why I like them so much! It was so fun to see a couple really make their wedding more personalized and without the usual structure most weddings have. We did their portraits first, just the two of them, and then we went to The Harvest Golf Club and the couple greeted everyone and they played some ice breakers. Then, right before the sun went down, everyone went outside for their ceremony. A fire had been lit and there were two sets of vintage his-and-her chairs for the grandparents while the rest of the guests huddled around. Ashley’s grandmother was the flower girl (so sweet). Alva and Ashley legally got married a week prior to the wedding so they could do their own kind of ceremony, just the two of them. It was so sincere and beautiful. They spoke their vows and did a few meaningful spiritual acts and finished by walking around the fire separately and then together.
We all then went inside to the whimsically Avatar-inspired reception decorated so beautifully by Stage Right Etc. My favourite part of the night was when Alva and Ashley sang a duet with each other. They chose the song “Home” by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros and you could just feel the room swell with joy and love. Once again, they had my waterworks going! I couldn’t help myself – there was so much love going around. : ) One other highlight was Ashley’s cute grandpa singing me a song in German. I took out my rusty high school German and thanked him for the spontaneous gift (well that’s what I wanted to say but all I could really get out in my bad German was good ole “Danke Schön”and “wonderschön”).

Another big congrats to you both!

Check out Alva and Ashley’s engagement shoot we did as well!

After the ceremony, we did a big group photo, Avatar style with all the guests being connected to the couple with a hand on the person’s shoulder in front of them as a sign of support.

Nathan and Nicole published on Style Me Pretty!

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

I held out posting this so that Style Me Pretty could post it first! One of my favourite weddings that I got a chance to photograph this year for sure! Stage Right Etc did an epic job with the decor, florals and planning of this wedding! My jaw dropped when I walked in and saw the room for the first time.  Here’s the link for it up on Style Me Pretty with more pics!

It was a pretty unique situation for this wedding as there were two photographers! Brandon Scott was their main photographer and with them for the whole day. Brandon is a good friend of the bride’s and hails from Windsor, Ontario. He’s super talented so check out his work here and stayed tuned for his post on Nicole and Nathan on his blog! I was hired by Stage Right Etc to take decor photos (since this was one of their epic weddings of the year and they wanted lot’s of photos to document it).  I also had 30 minutes to myself with Nicole and Nathan to take photos of them as a part of an agreement made.

As told to Style Me Pretty: Nathan had Nicole giggling and smiling constantly with funny expressions and secret whispers. They were glued at the hip! I loved their style from Nathan’s Buddy Holly glasses down to his boots with the untied laces and the beautiful feathers in Nicole hair.
Nicole made an amazing inspiration scrapbook that she gave to their amazing wedding planners, Danielle and Ria, of Stage Right Etc  and they really drew from that and made it amazing. Danielle is going to share some pictures of the inspiration book on her blog post for this when she does it so stay tuned for that at http://blog.stagerightetc.com/! Nicole started crying when she thanked them because she thought it was so gorgeous. Pretty cute.
